History and Additional Information About What We Do

Custom Mailing Service is an agency-owned business of Community Connection and has been providing bulk mail services to the Santa Cruz community since 1983. Community Connection is a program of the Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz, which has been providing mental health services since 1978. The mission of the program is to assist adults with psychiatric disabilities in achieving greater competence and independence as members of the community. Through Community Connection, participants have the opportunity to contribute to the community through volunteer work, improve independent living and work skills, gain work experience or obtain employment in the community.

As part of their recovery, many participants choose to do volunteer work preparing bulk mailings for non-profit agencies, which allows them to gain experience and learn all aspects of the bulk mailing process. Custom Mailing Service may then choose to hire graduates of the program who are highly motivated and skilled and committed to the success of the business.
